Some of us in the past year or so have experienced great grief over the number of fallen-away Catholics, pagans and neo-pagans, and the vast majority of people in this world who are not baptized, and who are living in various types of gross sin.
Infused gried is a gift, believe it or not. It is the gift of love for those who see how many people may be damned by their own free will, by having closed minds and hearts to the Gospel of Christ, and who only want power and comfort, here and now.
Those who live with no thought of eternity need to be grieved and this grief should move us to deep intercessory prayer.
Infused grief is a sign of love, that bridal love one has for Christ, pouring out to others, who do not share this love of the Bridegroom, who do not know what this love could mean for their desparate lives.
If you are one of the Church Militant who find themselves grieving over so many lost souls, be comforted, that you are sharing in the love of Christ. Christ grieved over Jerusalem, over His Own People, who rejected Him. Not all grief is bad or wasted, if this grief brings us to prayer, to have Masses said for others who are far away from God.
Luke 13:34 Douay-Rheims
34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children as the bird doth her brood under her wings, and thou wouldest not?
But, the story does not end at this passage, does it? Christ was crucified, died and rose from the dead to save us all, even those who are so far away. Pray and hope, hope and pray.
